How do i keep my dog from digging out under wood panel fencing?

Have laid chicken wire down on top of the hole, but looks unsightly. Have tried electric fencing. (she liked it!). A neurotic Shar-pei and owner.|||i have a JR terrier mix and they love to dig !!,,,,,the best thing to do is to buy concrete blocks...they are 16 or 18" long, 6 or 8 " wide, and 3" tall, they weigh 25.5 lbs each and cost like 90cents or $ 1.20 each one, at Lowe's or home depot....they come a little smaller and lighter, like 10.5 to 11 lbs, but my 30 lb. dog can move these easily with his paws so your Shar-pei probably can also....you get these blocks and lay them end to end, tightly touching each other, no gaps, up against the wood fence, one row is 6-8 " wide...if your dog digs under this, you can make it two wide, or install landscape timbers against the fence on the other side...actually, the best way is to put one set of blocks on each side of the fence, that way if he digs under one set, and gets under the fence, he won't be able to surface on the other side, because the blocks will prevent him from exiting up...if this is not clear or you don't understand what i mean, email me back, and i'll answer any questions you have !! i had to install 2 sets of landscape timbers, one on top of the other, with rebar-2 pieces to each timber, and my dog dug beneath the timbers, in-between the rebar...that is when i added the concrete blocks..first the light ones, 11 lbs each, but he moved them...so i went with the heavier blocks, 25.5.lbs each..and that stopped him dead in his tracks...he could not move those or dig beneath them...he gave up..i had created a virtual prison, and stopped a digging terrier, doing what his breed was trained for, digging out vermin..and my problem was solved....call me if anything i wrote was unclear or confusing, email me that is...hope this solves your problem !! good luck to you !!|||cover the wire with dirt.|||weird! At the beginning when he was new in our home, and we would leave for a while and leave him in his outdoor run way, he would digg holes and be gone. what we did we purchased in the petstore an electric schock fence. you put them arround the area where the digging is. Than he has something arround his neck, it comes in the set. It is not harmful. So train him to get used to it. Only schock him when he starts digging. Eventlually he will get the message. I am a dog lover, and I knew I will get hate mails from all you weired Animal control freaks. Never mind that. I believe in doing the right thing with my dog. And it has stopped with him. Also they have electrical fences and that helps too. See what best works for you and your dog. Cause it is with some cost|||Try putting black pepper in the hole, usually after a couple of attempts of digging in the hole, and inhaling the pepper and going into a sneezing fit becuase of it they stop. If your Shar-pei is unusually stuborn and tries a different location you could dust thefence line with pepper and that should deter her.





The chicken wire is usually a good bet, if you don't like the appearance, bury under the dirt and allow grass to grow over top of it.





Another idea is to plant bushes along the fence so their roots interfere.|||i believe theres moles or rodents of some sort she may b after also does she have plenty of toys outside and a shelter this is how they rebel by digging hot pepper sprinkled in there favorite digging area works to not too much|||there is this stuff called spoosh or spoof and it makes it so the animal wont chew on things b/c it leaves a bad taste and i would guess since it would taste bad it might smell bad and your animal licks his/her paws right? so that would be my guess..yet i do not remember the name of the item..|||We have two escape artists. Huskies they do the same. We buried chicken wire, then placed a board along the bottom of the fence. So far seems to work, although the are trying to undo the wrungs.
