What are some less expensive options for fencing in a large yard that will look good and help keep our dog in?

We just bought a house with a large backyard. We want to fence it in for privacy and to keep our german short-haired pointer contained. Fencing is so expensive but we absolutley need to do something so we can just let the dog out to run and play|||Trellis panels or curved panel fencing would be pretty effective.|||There are 3 main types of fence that will meet your needs for a fence that offers privacy, is economical, and will keep your pets safely in your yard:

Chain Link w/ privacy slats or lattice: This is the cheapest type of fence. 100 linear ft. will cost around $1200 (rough estimate) for 6ft high galvanized, then add another $400 - $600 or so if you want privacy slats (plastic or aluminum inserts which turn your chain link fence into a privacy fence)

Wood Privacy Fence: Wood is a traditional, economical fence material that has a natural appeal. The only issue with wood is the maintenance and upkeep required, but if you want the affordability and don't mind staining or painting every few years, then wood is a great choice. 100 linear ft of 6' high wood privacy fencing will cost around $1200 (this really depends on the type/quality of wood used).

Vinyl Privacy Fence: Vinyl Fencing is more expensive, but also looks better (in my personal opinion), provides better privacy, and is easier to install DIY without specialized tools. Vinyl is also very low maintenance, usually just requiring routine hosing off to keep it clean. 100 linear ft of white vinyl privacy fence will cost you around $2400 depending on what options you choose and how many gates you need.|||well you have one option. Use a garden mesh steel fence with posts. They can go up to a few feet. It is a lot cheaper than a "real" fence, will work, and easy to do. Look at the yardgard 4' and the posts on this link.

I did this for a few years untill I saved the 6K for the fence. (3 dogs,,,, one cat)|||Why don't you call a fence company they can help you decide what your options are and answer all your questions.
