How Much Does it Cost to Run Electric Horse Fencing?

For about 1 1/2 acres fenced with electric fencing how much would the electric bill go up?|||You will hardly notice any increase in your electricity usage. We ran almost 4 acres of 1 strand of electric rope and our bill really has not changed in a year. To put up the fence, it probably cost us about $300 (with the receiver and the rope and fence connectors). Our horses respect the fence and we have no more broken spots where they can get out :-) (which was amazing, because my filly is a major houdini and squeezes out of everything).|||if you are carefull and dont let the fence give out shocks to things its shouldnt like trees, bushes also dont leave it on the ground when you get the horses out, when the fence is giving out shocks it uses up more power. i can honestly say changing from post and rail to electric was the best thing i done. i dont have to replace broken rails anymore!! and surpisingly it doesnt cost much to charge if you save the battery as much as you can like turning it off when there not in there. :)|||T-Posts run about $3-4 our here. You also need tape and insulators. A big roll of tape can cost $100-200 and insulators can be about $10 a bag. (Tape insulators are more expensive). You also need a ground rod.

We bought a Gallagher Solar Powered Fencer. The thing cost us around $200, but it's WONDERFUL. It doesn't go out if the power goes out and it's reliable. I have bought Fencers from Gallagher for YEARS and have never been disappointed with them.|||My neighbor has some, with more than that, and it was rather cheaper that you would think. It works too! I got shocked with it once trying to climb out of the fields. (I was playing with the horses.) Yes, I had permission. It don't hurt as much as it traumatizes. He is rich though.|||Try: horseguardfence.com

They have really good fencing and it's not very expensive.

You can also use solar power units instead of your electric.%26lt;-- just a suggestion|||Ours, doing several miles of fencing costs about $20 a year. (Mains fencer) it really is minimal.
