What is the best fencing for horses? Also does anyone know how much Flex-fencing costs?

I have been looking at a lot of different fencing options but I can't decide which one is best. I would prefer to have a non-electric fence. Thanks!|||My two favorite types of horse fencing are telephone poles and oil piping. Those are the only two I haven't seen a horse tear up. Even galvanized steel they can bend.

Flex fencing when I checked into it in '05 ran about $12.00 a leaner foot.|||i would say a good old fashion wood post and rail

there strong safe and sturdy and you can make them fit any where you need also if you are in the paddock and something happened you can easily climb or go through the rail on the fence

if you have problems with the horses chewing the wood then just get a nasty spray like

Mc Nasty

and they leave it alone although that may be costly|||there are lots of different types of fences. I would have to say my favorite would be post and rail with a couple electric strands to keep them from chewing the wood. you can have..

Electric Fence: good and fairly cheap. needs to be maintained right, and make sure that the horse respects it. You will need to have a charger with it. The farm that we are moving into has 2 strands of braided electric and that works really well

Post and Rail: probably one of the best kinds that you can get. It's expensive though and horses can chew on it. It's safe and sturdy though if it's good quality.

Barbed Wire: NEVER use this!! Horses can get caught in it and have serious injuries from it!

A hedge: if you have a natural hedge you could put some post and rail or some eclectic fence around the edges if needed or if it's tall enough you might not even need it. I think you can buy hedges too, but be careful about what type of plants are in it. Horses might eat some of it, so make sure it's nothing poisonous. Also it's good because it provides shade.

Plain Wire: Not a very good choice either. If stretched taunt, then it's doable, but I would not recommend it

Chicken Coop: wouldn't recommend this either. Horses can get their foot caught in the holes and become hurt.

Hope that helps! Good luck!|||The best fence for horses is the wire fence. It does not have barbs to tear flesh and does not need electricity to protect it. The price of Flex fence varies according to size and quality. Plan on 50 cents a foot with the other supplies that you will need to install it.|||I like 2 inch by 4 inch net 48 inches high with two strands of twisted smooth wire above that for a 54 inch fence. They can't get their foot caught in the 2 x 4 mesh or cut on the smooth wire. If for some reason they don't respect it, you can add one hot wire at the top
