We have 2 mini shetland and need more fencing and we don't know which fencing to use.|||I have no idea which fencing you're even talking about. Fencing comes in so many colours from so many brands. Over here the fencing tape is white or orange. Personally I would advise you NOT to get green fencing tape, but white wide stuff that really shows. Normally the fencing tape isn't more than a centimetre wide, but I'd recommend the stuff that's at least an inch. Not only does it show better, but because of the width it also has more metal entwined in it which means it conveys the charge better and doesn't get erroded so easily. The downturn is that it's more expensive. But it's worth it.
Just go to the store and see what fencing they offer for what price, and ask the clerk which one she or he would recommend.
And don't, for the love of god, resort to barbed wire. =)|||If you want to know about the tape, the difference is only the colour. The green tape is less visible, and more aesthetically pleasing.
Since it is for the horses, we prefer the orange tape, which is more visible for them. We don't care what people see or don't see..
The previous poster is correct about the fencer. It supplies the charge. The tape or wire carries the charge. Some are much better than others, but it depends on your needs. If your fence is not near electricity, you need a battery. They usually have two settings. If your horses are easy to fence, or your fence is not very long, you don't need a super powerful supply. So, see your dealer. They will know and be able to explain it.
I usually buy some of those little plastic signs to mark electric fences. Most horses and ponies have a fan club, and people that are not around farms sometimes are not too bright when it comes to electric fences.|||There are many types of fence available and some claim to work better than others. Usually it is the fencer that delivers the charge that makes the difference. Some are stronger than others. I am guessing you are referring to the fence tape? I found a site that says it is less noticeable, therefore the color green.

I would ask at your local feed store about the fence and fencer. The guys who work there know their stuff and will be able to give you the best advice to suit your needs. Even if you didn't buy from them, they will be able to tell you all about fencers and fence so you have a better idea what you are buying.|||Some good info here. http://electric-horse-fence.com/index.ht鈥?/a>
