What can I put along the bottom of my split rail fence to keep my trimmer from tearing up the fencing?

What would be a good idea to preserve condition of the fencing near the ground?





I need something that isn't an eye sore either. I've killed the grass along the fence line, which has helped, but no matter how hard I try I keep hitting the metal fencing with the trimmer.





Any ideas?|||Get some 1/4" flat bar 4" wide go along fence line with straight shovel down about 2" and run bar along bottom of fence that will give you 2" of bar for string to hit against. Good luck.
